So apparently Tyler has been plugging this blog to people so it will have an audience. I might have to spell check once in a while. To see the beginning of my Greece adventure, you can check out my blog from my 2011 studying abroad experience HERE!
So we leave for Greece on Tuesday at 6:25 on BA66 from PHL... Tuesday... as in the day after tomorrow. We still have to pack and clean and so much more. But we'll get there. Some may wonder how we got here...
Well it all goes back to the PSU Athens Study Abroad Spring 2011 program. Tyler and I both attended PSU but did not know of each other. We met in Greece on our program, fell for each other, dated, and now we live together in Phoenixville with our animal family.
I like to be corny and say that starting
a relationship in Greece means that the foundation of your relationship
is as solid as the Grecians made it - they last forever. Once the program was over, as ready as we were to go home, I knew we would come back. We needed to pick the time of year to go back and that is when I had a wonderful idea. First let's go back to where we met and dated and now live together. Another thing was that I kind of encouraged Tyler into running so that I wouldn't have to do races alone. Well he loves it like me. So when planning our trip I thought - why not the Athens Classic Marathon. So that was that. This will be my third marathon and Tyler's second. We have heard that the course is very challenging, plus slight altitude adjustment, plus jet lag means it is going to be a rough day but we should both finish with minimal problems. Hopefully the same as after Philadelphia last year.
The race is on Sunday and then we have until the 20th to vacation and explore. We don't have a set plan of travels but our school from study abroad - The Athens Centre - was kind enough to set us up with an apartment in the area where we lived before. This way we had a nice home base for our adventures.
There is still much to do before we depart but I've been ready to go for about 2 years... can't wait!!!
